Meeting Minutes

In attendance: Joe Newton - Kerry Degen - Deb Radi - Laurie Oelslager - Lisa Matzke - Bernie Haldenwanger - Joe Martinez - Fran Carlson - Kim Sletten

New registration form & brochure shown to group, well received - following changes suggested: 1} Under level of training instead of listing all possible aspects - have the registrant list all that apply. 2} Eliminate BLS for CPR Instructors - just list CPR Instructor. 3} Add Web page info.

Those attending discussed what is the address - I explained that would be changing over to Sue Kester address - all thought that was a good idea.

They would like to see new list of Officers / board & contact info. - I stated I would send it out as soon as I had them available to me.

Conference 2002 discussed: all thought it was a good conference - they liked the mystery dinner - speakers were also good.

Discussed 2003 conference: Let them know Dawn & I will be chairs. I just updated them with info that we discussed at board mtg. as well as showed them the bids for Grand Casino & Holiday Inn. It was unanimous & a no-brainier to go back to the Holiday Inn due to the cost difference. I informed them that I would get in contact with Craig & let him know their thoughts. I also will inform him of the weekend that they preferred due to the inability for the date chosen being unavailable. I stated that they would be contacted a soon as a decision was made. DATES AVAILABLE: MAY1-3 // APRIL 9TH-12TH ??

I have bids available for anyone who would like to see them. Food alone showed a $1800.00 difference in price. Plus Hinckley charges for any/all equipment utilized at a very spendy fee.

Suggestions: * Keynote Speaker to be Nationally known {as a draw} * Mystery dinner to include notepapers for people to be able to follow & maybe figure it out. * Also play up mystery dinner more. * Set it up just a little differently so all can see & follow.

* Start DOT course a day earlier so maybe some of the participants would stay for the entire conference plus be able to utilize some CEU information.

* More sessions on education materials & educators {we want to stay at th= is point an educators organization}. People can go get CEUs in other places but not what they need to know or want as the educator / instructor. * Suggestions: Advanced power point & Basic power point sessions. * Pre-conference to be 1 or 2 days: Recert on PALS / CPR-Instructor / or Trainer. * BTLS Instructor Course * PPC Instructor Course. * Utilize affiliate faculty & member instructors to keep cost down. * See if BTLS or training facilities wants to host a session.

Other suggestions: Denim shirt in a different color. * Book bags to sell / they were informed that Dawn & I looked into them & the cost would be about $ 21.00 a piece -- suggested that we order some.

Vendor suggested: Thomas Learning / Noted to check & see if their materials are MN accepted & approved. * Armstrong

Noted MnSCU conference July 25th - 27th, 2002 with DOT Class July 24th, 2002.

Suggested that MAEMSE contact MnSCU {Joe Graft} about a joint venture across the State for evaluation of scores.

I stated that all information; ideas & suggestions would be forwarded to Craig & the Board.
